Ms. Sarah-Beth Miville

is currently a senior at Bob Jones High School in Madison, Alabama, and plans to attend Auburn University in the fall majoring in Psychology with an emphasis on Physical and Psychological Disabilities. Sarah-Beth is active in several clubs and organizations including Cross Country, Track, Key Club, First Priority, Fellowship for Christian Athletes, and Interscholastic Leadership Council. In her essay, Sarah-Beth pointed out that children with disabilities are often looked down upon in society and that it is very expensive to care for a child with special needs. Sarah-Beth explained she would help fund families who have a special needs child, by providing them assistance with any necessary medical, educational, or shelter needs.




Ms. Alexandra Ference

is currently a senior at Pope John Paul II Catholic High School in Huntsville, Alabama and plans to attend the University of Alabama in Birmingham in the fall with a major in Nursing. Alexandra is member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Spanish Club, Art Club and Cheerleading. In her essay, Alexandra highlighted the importance of having clean drinking water for the world. Points included the need for clean water, sources of water, disinfection and sanitization of water, and distribution of clean water to those who are in need.




Ms. Yvonne Chodoba

is currently a senior at Huntsville High School in Huntsville, Alabama and plans to attend Auburn University in the fall with a major in Biomedical Sciences. Yvonne is a Student Council Appointed Officer, a member of the Biology Club and National Honor Society, and President of Mu Alpha Theata. Along with being a member of her church choir, Yvonne is also involved in the Advanced Concert Band. In her spare time, Yvonne volunteers at local food distribution centers for the underprivileged. Yvonne discussed in her essay the significance of education as a key to solving many of the world's issues. She focused on the positive impact education could have on self-sufficiency and the fight against poverty and violence in third-world countries around the world.




Ms. Jennifer Lundy

is currently a senior at Buckhorn High School in New Market, Alabama, and plans to attend the University of Alabama in the fall majoring in Pre-Med. Jennifer is active in several clubs and organizations including Leadership, French Club, Swim Team, and her church youth group. She is a choral member and has over 11 years of private voice lessons. In her essay, Jennifer outlined her personal goals of becoming a doctor so that she can set up medical clinics in third-world countries.




Ms. Christina "Christy" Pickering

is currently a senior at Hazel Green High School in Hazel Green, Alabama, and plans to attend Auburn University in the fall as a Chemical Engineering major with a specialization in Biomedical Engineering. Christy is secretary for Hazel Green's National Honor Society, and a member of STAND UP Team (Students Taking A New Direction Under Pressure), Scholar's Bowl, Principal Advisory Council, Trojan Ambassadors, and Student Council. Christy plays clarinet in her school's concert band and alto saxophone in the jazz band. She is also president of her youth group at Hazel Green United Methodist Church. Christy's main point in her essay was to ensure that all children have access to a quality education with well qualified teachers. She would do this by providing supplies and teachers to countries with no education systems.
